Penance

I went to Church two nights ago. Tuesday night I was in Church. I am Catholic, and part of the deal is doing penance each year. Say what you will, but it is sort of like the Jewish custom of bringing your sins to a lake to deposit them there. Okay, that's probably not the right custom, but I read about it in a book. And, darned it, books don't lie.

Actually, Christians, following ancient Jewish traditions of fast and abstinence for penance, observed the law of fasting on Wednesdays and Friday abstinence from the time of Christ’s Crucifixion.

Anyway, I was thinking about penance today – but I did not get around to writing about it. Should I repent for that as well? Who knows? All I know is that I have little to say today. But I will return to this issue in a few days. But don't worry, it will not include a reference to Dani. Hell, she is perfect according to her and her husband. As I heard it, heaven would turn into hell if they allow lesbians in it. For some of us, that sounds like one heck of an enticing heaven.

I don't do the organized religious thing, but I can find great comfort sitting in a glorious church.

Be bold, confess in public
hell, everyone else seems to love letting all hang out - no need to be shy anymore - all sin is public

So if you read it in a book must be true. I like the idea you are a Catholic - gosh some guys have all the luck ...
And yes most of the traditions are Jewish after all Christ was a Jew

Man is either simply flesh & bone and when he's dead he's dead & gone
Or, man is something more then the custom is more than just another chore.

Funny how people will religiously remember to brush their teeth, three times a day or maybe more

And others will religiously remember to take their daily pill so that they can play with fire and then some more

But most of all people religiously pray for money & money & money ...
whether it be the owner of the store or the shopper wanting to buy yet more. I guess it is all a matter of degree whether you have more faith in yourself or in your holy trinity.

And here I wish you a merry Xmas, for like all others I'm just like every other blogger whore, looking for visitors & comments at my store

I was brought up Roman Catholic, went to church every sunday till I was 18. At that time my father gave me a choice. And I decided to sleep in on Sundays afterwards.

No I am not the C&E Catholic, I don't take up the seat of a true church goer on these days.

As for cleansing my sins? I don't think I have enough Vacation time booked to be able to spend that much time in a church these days.

Cheers!

Not being saved until I was in my late twenties I missed out on a lot of tradition. My mom didn't take us to church when we were growing up so it wasn't until later that I learned of Christ and all that had been done on my behalf. As a Southern Baptist I was fortunate enough to find an autonomous church that didn't fall under the SBC. I'm in the process of getting back to being a Christian after wandering for so many years. Not an easy task.

Man is flesh and bone. No one can say otherwise. Something more, would be outside the aspect of physicality and must be cultivated in some way. Since you are the one that ends your own garden, I'm fairly certain no deity is necessary for either slant. And the custom is still just another chorse. *blinkles*
