How 'Bout Them Apples

Yesterday, I was sitting at my desk, eating a clementine. It was a tasty clementine, and I enjoyed every bite of it. I really love fruit. But after savoring my last bite, I could not recall the first time I had ever tasted a clementine. Funny thing is that I don't remember them as a child.

There are so many fruits that I can't remember from my childhood. I had star fruit the other day – a fruit I would never have even seen as a girl. And apples? I can remember only three or four kinds of apples as a kid, and now, you know, you normally have 8 to 12 different kinds that change from season to season. A far cry from Granny Smith, Red Delicious, and Golden Delicious of the early 1980s. Now you can pick up a Pink Lady and sink your teeth into said lady. Or now, get a Braeburn and go to town on it. If eating fruit sounds like sex, well, I guess it can be.

I was reading Cinderella today, and loved her line, "I was hoping that these pictures could give you a taste of my world." Taste is such a wonderful word, sort of carnal, primitive.

When I was eating my clementine yesterday, I could feel someone staring at me. Since I was at the computer working, I did not see who it was. Guess he or she finds fruit similarly erotic.

Think of some phrases:

Nice pear (pair).
Peach Fuzz.
Forbidden Fruit
Tangerines (word for breasts)
Twig and Berries

And some people even take pictures of fruit. Oh, my, looks like I am hungry for a good plum.

Passionfruit?
Nothing is better than some nice ripe juicy melons.
Don't forget that the cucumber is also a fruit, even though it's not sweet and is full of seeds, those little ones are called gherkins.

thats SOME picture!

Growing up on Californias central coast we had all sorts of great produce available to us. Even so, there is WAY more available now.

If you like Clementines, just wait until you taste a Satsuma. So far I have only seen them in California and Texas.

LOL, that is a cute fruit. Relative? Brings new meaning to the response, my body is pear shaped.

I grew up in a burb just north of NYC, and it was apple growing territory. The location of IBM's corporate Hdqrts in my town was built on a working apple orchard, and they kept the trees and made sure that a grower continued to work them. There was an apple stand on the State highway just at the edge of this idylic town, and all the people from the city's south of us would come out on a Weekend, especially Sunday, clogging up the dam roads LOL.

Yeah, there were apples that i remember as a kid, and all i remember was that they were mush. I didnt like most of them, I liked then and everyday in the past 10 years or so have a Granny Smith.

Now, as far as erotic fruit, the always popular bannana can be used in so many ways, and unlike strawberries, doesnt stain the sheets.

You know Leeesa,
I've never been much of a fruit person - but I guess monkeying around with you is guaranteed to be fun

Well I do love my hard melons and water melons, hot no time for those soft baby yellow melons, strawberries by the bucket load, and grapes - well always have a few, turm the rest to wine,

but oranges --- hmmm only the large sweet ones just off a tree, hate those one's they sell in town which have been in cold storage and 'burnt' (dried out)

Clementines --- nah
tangerine dreams or mandarins much much nicer with or without pips.

But hey Mediterranean fruit is the best, sure the tropics offer a thousand and one delights, vut appart from bananas and baby bananas, and ananas or pineapple, not much else really 'tickled' my fancy - well maybe custard apples (youghurt on a tree)

Oh! Oh did i forget coconuts, can't beat a good pair of coconuts, can drink and drink from them all day and all night especially with Malibu or Rum

But fruit should go back to being seasonal, can't beat autumn apples straight from grandad's orchard in the hills - and those you can't eat keep under the bed - ready to turn into cider - or scrumpy

So Leeesa got a good pair of coco-nuts? You show me yours, I'll show you mine only kid-ding

I'm oddly aroused. At first, I thought you were speaking of your old childhood and something really innocent. I was like, "Hmm, not Leesa's forte!" (mua ha ha) I LOVE this picture! How funny is that?

Too much!

WIND!!! "rend open the heat," cut it, plough through it, so that ripe fruit can drop. The heat is a palpable force that "presses up and blunts the points of pears." In this imagined oppression of unbearable pregnancy she prays for a deliverance from the process of gestation and ripening, though even her own metaphor acknowledges that without the force of heat the growing and ripening fruit would not assume its proper shape.

from "Rose Cut in Rock: Sappho and H.D.'s 'Sea Garden.'"

Fruit and eroticism have always gone hand in hand. There is even a saying that a man who has not given into the lure of the fruit will never be able to please a woman to her full potential.

So an apple a day can keep the doctor away unless she's a beautiful doctor :)

Cheers!

mark: and love apples (tomatoes).

jr: 5 a day, I always say.

mal: we have peaches, peaches and onions. Not a plethera of different kinds of fruit, though we had lots of kinds of peaches.

larry: I am less familiar with the trees the fruit are on than the fruit themselves. Fruit grow in the supermarket for me.

quasar: Clementines are the perfect size!

~deb: I enjoys arousing you, sweet pea!

Pyth0s: I was not aware that fruit-loving had a direct relationship to women-loving.
