Hoops, Anyone?

Oregon Basketball CheerleaderIt is that time of year again – March Madness. This is a somewhat magical time of year – the time where college sports and gambling collide like peanut butter and chocolate. Each is good on its own, but together you get an orgasm in your mouth.

A few years ago, I participated in something with fellow bloggers – someone set up a group (I think it was in Yahoo), and anyone who wanted could submit a bracket. Winner got bragging rights. Well, I sort of want to do the same. I have set up something on ESPN.com. It is an easy way to track winners and losers, and, who knows, if all of your picks are right, you could win $1 Million (the odds are better than buying a lottery ticket, but the payoff is worse).

Here is how you can fill out your own bracket (taken from the ESPN site); it also has a group name as well, something you need in order to participate within groups:

Get in on the excitement of this year’s NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament. Compete against other fans as you fill out a bracket and earn points for every correct pick! Come out on top and you could win $10,000. Get a group together and earn plenty of bragging rights amongst your friends by winning it all. Best of all, it’s free to play and win.

Group: Blogger Hacks

The brackets need to be completed by tip-off of the first game on Thursday (the play-in game does not count).

If someone knows of another blogger doing this, please let me know. And if you don't know of anyone doing this and you want to publicize this on your site (and take credit; I don't care), you can do that as well. I just want to join a group, not lead the group.

And in memory of conformity and St. Patrick's Day, I tried to find a basketball cheerleader wearing green. Well, she looks like she is a football cheerleader. Oh, crap. This pic was less blurry than the basketball picture I found.

And if you want something a bit more St. Patty's Day, perhaps this will do (neither are work-safe):

St. Patty's Pinch
Girl Scout Cookies

I have a pic of a cheerleader in green (mostly yellow, but with green trim) you can use. Naturally, she is Japanese.

I usually don't notice March Madness. It doesn't figure in big with the local Asian population.

I really don't think your male readers will care what sport she is cheering.

I will have to tell my wife about your peanut butter and chocolate line as I give her a Reeses cup.

And as a rule, I don't follow college basketball too much, but I will be interested as long as Cleveland State and the University of Akron is in the tournament.

My bracket RULES, at least until they start playing. I only follow a couple of teams in the NCAA, my alma mater, a few of my friend's schools, and ones with cute cheerleaders.

March Madness is my one chance to follow sports, and 2 weeks a year is just about right.

I dont watch it during the year. I play at a woodworkers forum where its been held for the last 5 years. Its on the CBS sports site.

I generally pick by the team rankings and where the games are being played. Each year has a string of upsets that generally happen on the same day in the first week when the most games are played. You have to vote for a 5 seed to loose to a 12 seed at least once. Never has a 1 seed lost to a 16, I think the longest odd was a 2 loosing to a 15. (the total for the first round always adds to 17)

and Leesa, re-reading those older posts, you can write some very steamy scenes.

and remember, you cant think of hoop brackets without a "rack" in there somewhere.

LOL

I know, thats bad.

Grant: I don't watch the games, but I fill out the bracket.

WIXY: So you will be interested in the first weekend? Cool.
I generally pull for the underdogs.

Advizor: Oh, a bit of trash talk.

gkw: thanks for joining.

sheen: thanks, sweetie!

Larry: Er, don't give up your day job.

Right on Leesa, I'm all about the trash talk. When my team's on the court I'm talking smack about the opponents shrinking endowment fund, I'll rip on their lack of intellectual credibility in the paleontology department, and I can make the other players cry by pointing out coding errors in HTML of their school's websites. It really messes with their game.....

Word up Y'all!

Leesa... Love this time of year! Fantasti I usually blow it, but I read today that EA Sports, the video game creator runs simulated games and it is scary how close they come to being correct. Enjoy
