Erotica

I saw the ~Deb got reviewed the other day. I am not going to tell you the site, because I don't want to drive traffic their way. I don't think their reviews are helpful. They are sort of mean-spirited and juvenile.

Anyway, I was reviewed by them a long time ago. Twice actually. And reviewed by another site. Oh, the point is not that my site has been reviewed in the past. Focus, Leesa, focus. Where was I? The other site actually mentioned that the erotica on my site was disturbing. Erotica sometimes is supposed to be disturbing, I guess.

And it gives me a moment to pause. Is erotic all that bad? Madonna thinks it is okay, and I sort of use Madonna as my guidepost. Okay, that is a bit of a joke.

I don't write erotica all that often. It seems to be an outlet of sorts. I have been a very good girl for several years. Yeah for me. But I still have impure thoughts, impure urges. And my erotica is like gum to an ex-smoker. A crutch – perhaps, but it helps me not stray.

Now I am not someone else's guidepost. I hope I am not. I just want to write a little bit, and every once in a while, a post or two might help someone. That's probably why I still write even when I don't feel like it.

Some things are sinful, but I don't believe erotica has to be sinful. I mean, read the following:

I sleep, but my heart waketh: it is the voice of my beloved that knocketh, saying, Open to me, my sister, my love, my dove, my undefiled: for my head is filled with dew, and my locks with the drops of the night.

The words may or may not be familiar with you. They are beautiful, they are erotic, and they can be found in the Bible.

I know my words are not worthy of the Bible. I am not saying that at all. What I am saying is that even the most holy texts contain erotica in them. Why can't some do nothing blog?

Whose words are worthy of the Bible? Certainly not mine - I'll tell you that! I've read most of your work and have been entertained, enthralled, "excited" and most of your writing puts me in deep thought about my own characteristics. How much you wanna bet that there's a slew of pastors/priests/holy people, including fundies reading your erotica posts? ;) They're that good! You have a fascinating imagination (or experience) that lets the readers' minds go beyond the norm.

That's why I love reading every word you write - I truly do!

Your biggest "Christian" fan,
Deb

Erotica is a very wide genre, because it can be from many perspectives. Dark chocolate can be erotic, lingerie can be erotic. To me erotic is the precursor to sex, its mental foreplay, its thoughts that are keen enough to get the reader excited about their own feelings, yet without spilling the beans and leaving the reader only one way out.

Painting a scene of seduction is erotic, but stripping bare the people, describing the act isnt.

I have always loved the scenery, its why I love certain movies, for their visual brilliance, not "Debbie does Dallas."

Leesa, you write both erotic and sexual, and while both may cause arousal, the erotic you write allows for the most, since each of us can fill in the paint according to our own pallet as you lay out the numbers.

If it's good enough for the Bible then certainly good enough for blogging.... I say go for it. With Gusto!

And I always wondered why they never read 'Song of Songs' to us in Sunday school. Wasn't until I got older I understood why.

Good erotica is as fine an art as any other and it fulfills a function, and there is an overwhelming difference between erotica and smut.

Somebody once wrote that "The book was so erotic that it was impossible to hold it and turn the pages using both hands." I thought that was very amusing.

So, keep on writing my dear. I've written some myself, though I've never posted it.

~deb: thanks, sweetie.

larry: I wasn't fishing for comments in this post, but I suppose that's what happened with it.

doc: thanks. Not sure I have seen you here before.

ian: And 'Song of Songs' is rarely read from the pulpit (is it at all?).

"...Some of the erotic written by others that you posted was clearly meant to be about sex with kids."

??

You have erotica posts that are written about kids by other people? I didn't see this nor remember any of it.

I absolutely LOVE erotica. If you find just the right genre of erotica (historical, paranormal, etc), you become a junkie, I swear you do.

Least I did. ;)
